A hybrid heat pump water heater uses two water heating mechanisms:
Air-to-water heat pump (ECO mode):
Extracts heat from surrounding air and transfers it to water, delivering up to four times higher efficiency (COP 4.0) than traditional electric heaters.
Electric heating element (Hybrid mode):
Provides backup heating during high water demand or extremely low temperatures, ensuring a consistent hot water supply year-round.
Most of the time the system uses ECO mode. When operating in ECO mode all day, the water heater consumes approximately 5.7 kWh per day-equivalent to around €1 in EU electricity costs. System can operate efficiently in ECO mode even in sub-zero temperatures down to -7°C.
